Excerpt from the email that was sent to all registered participants yesterday:
When you arrive, you will need to enter the facility through Gate 70 off Midway Ave. Then follow that main road toward the large paddock area (the area with the red arrow on the map). That lot is where we will pre-stage and check-in for our event. Just look for the SCCA Time Trials van and Track Night staff in the white shirts.
We will start the check in process at 3:00 pm, but you’re welcome to arrive earlier if you’d like. The test day for the Central Florida Region’s SCCA May Showcase road racing event will be on track prior to us, so the facility gates will be open. If you need to change tires or do any other car prep, go ahead and take care of that in the pre-stage lot. Don’t forget to go fill up with fuel before you stage. Once everyone is checked in, we will parade all cars inside the track. Our entire event will then operate from pit lane.
Check in for this event will close at 4:30 pm.
There is about a 90% chance of rain at the beginning of the event tomorrow. I read below we will not have the garages available. I have run previous Track Nights in the rain, but not at Daytona. Will this event run in the rain? With standing water? Is there anywhere for guests to be under cover, out of the rain? I imagine there will be delays due to lightning in the area?
As excited as I am about running on this track, I'll skip 6 hours of towing if it is a washout.
Does it matter where we come in and park before the event? Where do we check in and turn in the check list?
